I am trying to change a lightbulb (more challenging than it sounds)?
Prolly need to replace the light sockets if there's no way to retighten them (oftentimes there's not)
or
just replace the existing light kit w/new.
Some light kits are pretty much single use/throw away once the first set of bulbs burn out...

You need to find some way to grip the sockets.
Gently and with power off.
If the glass bulb has separated from the aluminum bulb base, [which happens a lot with cheap bulbs], you can use a potato. First, make sure the circuit breaker or fuse is turned off, not just the light switch. Twist the glass bulb until it separates from its base [not a bad idea to wear gloves in case it happens to shatter]. Then take a small potato [or a large carrot] and shove up into the socket, and turn counter clockwise. The potato grips the broken base as you push and turn. Replace all bulbs with a high quality bulb, and they have a grease in the electrical aisle called %26quot;socket lube%26quot; which you smear on the bulb base before screwing back in, so this doesn't happen to you in the future.
This really does work.
PS...don't eat the potato afterward, there might be shards of glass stuck in it [lol]
